V13 KlangFormer V2 marks a major evolution of our software plug-in for the WeissKlang V13. The new version expands the available tonal palette to eleven carefully developed characters and introduces additional tools for shaping the sound with greater precision.
At its core remains the exceptionally linear and uncolored response of the WeissKlang V13. This neutral foundation allows KlangFormer to apply the sonic characteristics of transformers, tubes, ribbon microphones and selected hybrid designs with a high degree of control and consistency.

From open and transparent to warm, dense or powerful, KlangFormer V2 offers eleven distinct tonal profiles designed for a wide range of voices, instruments and production styles.
These profiles go beyond simple EQ curves. Depending on the selected character, KlangFormer also introduces carefully tuned harmonic content, saturation and tonal density to create genuinely different sonic signatures.
Each character can be blended continuously, allowing anything from subtle coloration to a clearly defined tonal transformation.

Transparent & detailed
An open and contemporary sound with airy highs, focused mids and a solid low-end response. Transformer-inspired characteristics add subtle depth and definition while preserving clarity. A particularly strong choice for vocals and acoustic instruments.
VINTAGE
Bold & mid-focused
Inspired by the unmistakable sonic character of recordings from the 1950s and 1960s. Pronounced mids, defined lows and articulate highs create a direct, characterful sound with a distinctly classic feel.
CLASSIC
Warm & powerful
Combines musical warmth with natural highs, present mids and a full low end. The character draws on both transistor and transformer-based designs, making it a highly versatile option across a wide range of sources.
TUBE
Warm & silky
Recreates the harmonic behavior and rich tonal character associated with classic tube circuitry. Silky highs and full-bodied lows introduce additional saturation, depth and a more three-dimensional sense of space.
RIBBON
Balanced & smooth
Captures the characteristic tonality of ribbon microphones with defined mids and a deliberately restrained top end. A strong choice for vocals, guitars, brass instruments and piano.

VIENNA
Refined & present
Warm, pronounced low mids are paired with a clear sense of presence and gently restrained highs. Carefully generated harmonic overtones add density and help create a refined, three-dimensional sound. Vienna works particularly well on vocals, snare drum, acoustic guitar and piano.
VELVET
Smooth & focused
Controlled lows, focused mids and gently softened highs create a clear yet polished tonal balance. Additional harmonic content adds density without pushing the upper frequency range too far forward. Suitable for vocals, overheads, electric guitars and piano.
DIAMOND
Precise & defined
Reduced low-end rumble creates more space for clarity and definition. Open mids and controlled highs result in a highly precise, detailed and polished sound. Diamond is designed for sources where articulation and definition take priority.
AURORA
Smooth & atmospheric
A softened presence range and subtly reduced highs create a gentler, more atmospheric character. Aurora is especially useful for taming sharp or overly forward sources and helping them sit more naturally within a mix.
LEGEND
Big & characterful
Rich low mids, pronounced presence and controlled highs create a powerful and expressive tonal profile. Legend adds size, substance and personality to sources that feel too thin or restrained.
IRON
Heavy & solid
Powerful lows, strong low mids and a clearly defined presence range create a stable and weighty foundation. Additional saturation gives the source greater impact and density without introducing excessive high-frequency harshness. An excellent option for kick drums, electric bass, vocals and drum buses.
Precise control over every parameter
KlangFormer V2 combines its tonal profiles with additional controls for fine-tuning the result.
Intensity continuously adjusts how strongly the selected character affects the signal. This makes it possible to move from barely noticeable coloration to the full tonal identity of the chosen profile.
Air opens up the upper frequency range and adds a sense of openness and lightness to voices and instruments while preserving the underlying tonal balance.
Proximity reduces excessive low-frequency build-up caused by close microphone positioning. The algorithm has been specifically tuned to the response of the WeissKlang V13, helping to maintain a more balanced and natural result.
Designed specifically for the WeissKlang V13
KlangFormer V2 was developed around the acoustic characteristics of the WeissKlang V13.
Its linear and uncolored response provides a reliable foundation for controlled tonal shaping, allowing the character of a recording to be refined after tracking rather than being permanently determined at the microphone stage.
This makes it possible to adapt the sound to the voice, instrument, arrangement or mix without sacrificing the clean original recording.
For best results, we recommend using a preamp with a linear frequency response, as found in most modern audio interfaces.
Built for modern production environments
V13 KlangFormer V2 is available in VST3, Audio Unit and AAX formats for current macOS and Windows systems.
The plug-in supports mono and stereo processing at sample rates of up to 192 kHz and uses 64-bit floating-point processing internally.
The plug-in operates with zero latency.
